# Inviting & Managing Team Members

> How to invite new users to your ALK workspace, assign them roles, and remove them when needed.

### Overview

This guide explains how to invite new users to your workspace, assign them roles, and remove them when needed.

<Tip>
  You need Workspace Admin access or higher to manage team members.
</Tip>

### Before You Start

* You must be a Workspace Admin or Entity Owner to invite or remove users
* Have the email addresses of the people you want to invite ready
* Decide in advance what role each person needs — see [Understanding Roles & Access](/admin/understanding-roles-access)

### Inviting a New Team Member

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the workspace tab">
    Navigate to settings and open the workspace tab on the page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Manage Access">
    Find the Workspace from the list and select **Manage Access** tab to see all current workspace members and their roles.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite the member">
    Click **Invite Member** and enter the person's email address. Select their workspace role:

    * **Workspace Admin:** if they need to manage members and integrations
    * **Workspace Member:** if they need to upload files and participate in workflows
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send the invite">
    Click **Send Invite**. The person will receive an email invitation to join the workspace.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Assigning or Changing a Role

To change an existing member's role, find them in the Members list, click the role dropdown next to their name, and select the new role. Changes take effect immediately.

### Removing a Team Member

To remove someone from a workspace, find them in the Members list and click **Remove**. They will lose access to the workspace immediately but their files and conversations will remain.

### Important Notes

* Only one organisation-level role can be assigned per user. If someone needs broader access across the whole organisation, their entity role needs to be updated — not just their workspace role.
* Removing someone from a workspace does not delete their account from the organisation. To fully remove a user from the organisation, this needs to be done at the entity level by an Entity Owner or Admin.
