# Pulse

> ALK's monitoring and visualisation dashboard for connected data

## Overview

Pulse is ALK's monitoring and visualisation dashboard. It lets you see your connected data as visual widgets and dashboards, organised across tabs so you can keep different types of data separate.

There are three ways to build out a Pulse tab:

* **Add widgets:** pin pre-made, single-purpose cards (currently Mono only).
* **Generate dashboard (recommended):** describe your sources, goals, and how often to refresh, and ALK generates a full dashboard for you.
* **Create manually:** build a dashboard yourself by picking a title, a prompt, data sources, and a refresh schedule.

You can also start a dashboard by describing what you want in Chat (**Create via chat**).

## Dashboard tabs

Pulse organises your widgets and dashboards into tabs. Two tabs are available by default:

* **Finances:** for financial data widgets (balance, cashflow, transactions)
* **Inventory:** for inventory and operational data widgets

You can switch between tabs using the tab bar at the top of the Pulse screen.

## Adding a widget

Widgets are pre-made, single-purpose cards.

<Tip>
  Widget integrations are currently limited to **Mono**. Acumatica is no longer available as a widget source — if you need inventory or purchase order data, use **Create manually** or **Generate dashboard** instead once an Acumatica-backed source is supported, or contact support for the current options.
</Tip>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Pulse">
    Click the Pulse icon in the ALK navigation bar to open your dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a widget">
    Click the **Create** button, then choose **Add widget** from the dropdown (or click **Add widgets** directly from an empty tab).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose your widget">
    The widget panel shows the available Mono widgets: **Balance** (current account balance), **Cashflow** (cashflow overview), and **Transactions** (recent transaction list). Widgets show a lock icon if Mono is not yet connected.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add it to your dashboard">
    Once Mono is connected, click the widget you want to add. It will appear in the active tab on your dashboard.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Generating a dashboard (recommended)

This is the fastest way to get a full dashboard rather than adding widgets one at a time.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Create menu">
    Click **Create**, then choose **Create manually** (or click **Generate dashboard** directly from an empty tab).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Describe your dashboard">
    Give it a title and a prompt describing what you want to track, for example "track supplier payment delays from Drive."
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose data sources">
    Click **Data sources** and select one or more connected sources. Currently available: **Google Drive, OneDrive, Xero, QuickBooks, Stripe, Flutterwave, Paystack,** and **Google Sheets**.

    For Google Drive and OneDrive, you can also pick the specific synced files Pulse should use, instead of every file from that source — expand the source to see and select individual files.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set a schedule">
    Choose how often Pulse should refresh the dashboard: **Daily**, **Weekly**, or **Monthly**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add goals (optional)">
    Click the **more options** icon to select up to four goals (for example Stability, Cost Reduction, Efficiency Gains) to help ALK tailor the analysis.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create">
    Click **Create**. ALK will process your sources and build the dashboard — this can take a few minutes depending on your sources and schedule.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  A data source must be connected before you can select it here. If a source appears disabled, connect it first under [Managing Integrations](/integrations/managing-integrations).
</Note>

## Important notes

* Widgets (Balance, Cashflow, Transactions) require an active Mono integration.
* Generated and manually created dashboards require at least one connected data source from the list above.
* ClickHouse is available as a Knowledge source but is not yet selectable as a Pulse dashboard data source.
