# Account Reconciliation Step-by-Step Guide

> How to run a bank-to-GL reconciliation in ALK, review results, and export a report

## Before you start

If you want to use connected accounts, make sure your Acumatica integration is set up first. See [Getting Started — How to Connect Acumatica to ALK](/getting-started/connect-acumatica). If you haven't connected Acumatica yet, you can still reconcile using the manual upload path.

## Getting started with account reconciliation

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the reconciliation tool">
    From the ALK home page, go to the navigation bar at the top and select **Workflows**. Scroll to the **Tools** section at the bottom of the Workflows page and select **Bank statement reconciliation**. You'll land on the **Reconcile** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose your data mode">
    On the Reconcile tab, you'll see three modes that determine how ALK pulls in data:

    * **Fully Connected** — Your bank is connected via **Mono**, and your general ledger is connected via **Acumatica**. Ensure you have these connected before proceeding.
    * **Hybrid** — You upload your bank statement, but keep your general ledger connected.
    * **Fully Manual** — You upload both the bank statement and your general ledger export.

    The **History** tab shows all previously run reconciliations.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select your method">
    **Option A — Fully Connected (Acumatica + Mono)**

    If Acumatica and Mono are not fully connected, this option will not be available to you. Choose your accounts — a bank source and a GL source (the bank account ALK should pull data from and the GL source it should match that data to) — then click **Continue**.

    **Option B — Hybrid**

    If Acumatica isn't connected and synced, this option won't be available. Upload a bank statement from your computer, then select a GL source, then click **Continue**.

    **Option C — Fully Manual**

    No connected data source is required. Upload a bank statement from your computer, then upload a GL statement, then click **Continue**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the reconciliation period">
    Select the period you want to reconcile, then click **Continue**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure advanced matching options (optional)">
    Expand **Advanced matching options** to adjust how ALK matches transactions. All four settings are on by default:

    * **Fuzzy matching** — Matches similar transactions even if descriptions differ slightly. Leave on unless you need exact description matches only.
    * **Date tolerance** — Allows a ±2 day window when matching transaction dates. Useful for transactions that post on different days across systems.
    * **Amount tolerance** — Allows a \$0.50 variance when matching amounts. Accounts for minor rounding differences.
    * **Ignore bank fees** — Prevents small bank fees from being flagged as discrepancies. Turn off if you need bank fees visible in your reconciliation output.

    Toggle any setting off if your reconciliation requires stricter matching, then click **Continue**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run the reconciliation">
    Review your selections and click **Continue** to run the reconciliation. ALK will process the data and return matched and unmatched transactions.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Reviewing your reconciliation results

Once your reconciliation has been run, you will see:

* Match rate — the percentage of matched vs. unmatched records
* Closing balance from the ledger
* Matched transactions for the period
* Unmatched transactions for the period, including how many were unmatched in the bank statement vs. the GL
* Exceptions for the period

You can also open the Matched, Unmatched, and Exceptions sections to take a closer look.

## Exporting your results as a report

At the bottom of the results page, click **Export report**. Decide whether to include Matched transactions, the Reconciliation report, Unmatched transactions, and the Summary page under **Export settings**. The Reconciliation report is selected by default — select any additional pages you want to include. When you're done, click **Download report** to export the report in a compatible Excel format that you can open in Excel or share with your team or auditor.

## Troubleshooting

Try the following before contacting support:

* Confirm your bank statement and GL export are in the correct file format
* Check that your date range is set correctly and covers the period you intend to reconcile
* If using connected accounts, confirm your Acumatica integration is still active under Integrations in ALK
* Try toggling off advanced matching options and re-running the reconciliation to rule out matching configuration issues
