Privacy Settings

Privacy Settings lets workspace administrators reduce the chance that sensitive information is exposed while people work in ALK.

Who can manage privacy settings?

Only workspace administrators can change these controls. They apply across the workspace, so agree on your team’s policy before enabling or changing them.

Open Privacy Settings

  1. Open Settings from the workspace menu.
  2. Select Privacy Settings.
  3. Review the available masking controls.
  4. Turn a control on or off, then save your changes.

Masking sensitive information

When privacy masking is enabled, ALK obscures supported sensitive values in the interface rather than showing the full value. This helps teams use operational data in Chat, Pulse, workflows, and reports while limiting unnecessary exposure. Use masking when:
  • Your workspace includes customer, employee, financial, or other sensitive data.
  • You are demonstrating ALK or sharing a screen.
  • A broader group needs to review results without needing full underlying values.
Masking is a presentation safeguard. It does not replace access controls, retention policies, or your organization’s data-security practices.

What to expect

  • Masked values may appear partially hidden or redacted, depending on the type of data and view.
  • People with the appropriate workspace access can continue to use ALK’s features, but should only handle information they are authorized to see.
  • Exported or shared results may follow different permissions and policies. Review content before sharing it outside your organization.
  1. Start with a small group of admins or team leads.
  2. Test the views and workflows your team uses most often.
  3. Explain how masked values appear and when someone should request approved access instead.
  4. Document your decision in your internal data-handling policy.
