Common ALK error messages, what they mean, and how to resolve them
| Error | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 404 — Page not found | The page or resource doesn’t exist, was moved, or the link is outdated. | Refresh the page. If it still fails, confirm you’re using the correct link. If needed, contact support. |
| Access denied | Your role doesn’t have permission to perform this action. | Confirm your role with your Workspace Admin. See Understanding Roles & Access. |
| Integration error | ALK can’t connect to one of your integrated sources. | Go to Integrations, reconnect the integration, and re-check credentials or permissions. |
| File upload failed | The file may be too large, unsupported, or your connection was interrupted. | Confirm the file type and size, then try again. If it persists, try a different browser or network and contact support. |
| User not found (at sign-in) | No ALK account exists for that email address. Capitalisation is not the cause — email addresses are matched case-insensitively. | Confirm the address your invite was sent to. If you have not been invited yet, ask your Workspace Admin to invite you. |
| Your account is not linked to an organisation | Your account exists but is not attached to an entity, so it cannot sign in. | Ask your Workspace Admin or Entity Owner to re-issue your invite. See Inviting & Managing Team Members. |
| Invite is invalid or has expired (at sign-up) | The invite was withdrawn, already used, or issued for a different email address. No account is created when this happens. | Ask your Workspace Admin to send a fresh invite to the exact address you are signing up with, then try again. |
| Document stuck on “Converting” | A background worker stopped part-way through reading the document. | Wait — ALK detects stalled conversions and retries them automatically. If it is still stuck after a few minutes, re-upload the document and contact support. |
| ”The source text here was hard to read” | The part of the page a value was read from was poorly scanned. This is a warning, not a failure. | Open the field in Block view and check the highlighted region against the document. See Confidence Levels. |
