Overview

Surrender Claims — Life Business is a workflow for life insurance surrender claims processing for Full Surrender, Partial Surrender, and Policy Loan claims, with automated eligibility assessment and discharge voucher generation. It supports end-to-end surrender processing — policy verification, surrender value validation, limits checks, document completeness review, routing decisioning, and discharge voucher preparation — in one streamlined workflow. What you get: a structured table of extracted claim fields you can review, edit, and export (including discharge voucher text).
To set up the workflow (creating sessions, uploading documents, running a workflow, and exporting), see Setting Up a Workflow for a comprehensive guide. This page focuses on what’s specific to Surrender Claims — Life Business.

What’s specific to Surrender Claims

  1. Limits checks differ by claim type. Ensure Requested Amount is validated against Minimum/Maximum Permitted Amount for partial surrender and policy loan requests.
  2. Eligibility is a decision, not a note. Use Eligibility Status, Document Completeness Status, and Routing Decision to make outcomes auditable and easy to route.
  3. Voucher text should reflect facts. Confirm policyholder name, policy number, amounts, and bank details before issuing a discharge voucher.

Standard fields (default columns)

Customising surrender claims columns

You can tailor columns to match your life claims checklist.
  • Add columns for surrender charges, outstanding premiums, outstanding loan balance, penalties, payout currency, tax/withholding, approver, and payout status.
  • Rename columns to be explicit (for example, “Net surrender value (₦)” or “Requested amount (₦)”).
  • Keep column names clear and unambiguous to improve extraction quality.

Important notes

  • Always validate policy number, policy status, and surrender value against internal systems before approval.
  • Ensure limits and eligibility rules are applied consistently by claim type.
  • If a field is consistently wrong, simplify the column name or add a short instruction to the column prompt.
